Kozhikode: A 25-year-old Ayurveda doctor has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl at a private hospital in Nadapuram, in Kerala's Kozhikode district.

The doctor, identified as a resident of Madathil House in Mahe, was employed at an Ayurveda hospital situated on the Nadapuram-Thalassery Road.

According to the news reports, the incident took place when the 16-year-old girl visited the hospital along with her mother in July.

According to the News Tag Live, the girl had come to a private Ayurvedic hospital on Thalassery Road with her mother several times for treatment. Meanwhile, the accused, a doctor here, was raping the girl.

The complaint is that the doctor abused her when she visited the hospital with her mother in July. The police had registered her statement the other day, reports Kerala Kaumudi

Medical dialogues had previously reported that in a shocking incident, a 61-year-old retired doctor in Kerala was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly molesting a minor girl during a counselling session at his residence. The doctor formerly served as secretary at the Kanhangad District Homoeopathy Hospital. He was taken into custody by the Hosdurg police and produced before the Hosdurg Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. The disturbing incident dates back to December 2023, when the girl, then 14 years old, visited the doctor’s house with her parents seeking counselling support.
