Akola: A video of a police sub-inspector allegedly misbehaving with an on-duty doctor at the Dahihanda Primary Health Centre (PHC) has gone viral on social media. In the footage, the officer can be seen using abusive language and threatening the doctor.

The sub-inspector, reportedly intoxicated, created a scene outside the health centre and confronted the on-duty doctor, accusing him of being absent during duty hours. What began as a verbal confrontation soon escalated, with the officer allegedly issuing threats of suspension.

In addition to hurling abuses, the police sub-inspector also warned the doctor that he would file a case against him and ensure his suspension. However, after the doctor filed a formal complaint against the inspector, the newly appointed superintendent of police (SP) Archit Chandak suspended him with immediate effect and initiated a departmental inquiry against him, reports TOI.

According to the complaint, Dr. Sagar Kalaskar, who has been working at the Dahihanda Primary Health Centre since 2023, was on duty at around 11:30 am when Police Sub-Inspector Prabhudas Gadlinge entered the premises in uniform. Since it was a Sunday, the OPD services were closed, but essential medical services were still running.

When the officer arrived, he reportedly questioned why the OPD was shut and started abusing Dr. Kalaskar. He shouted, saying, "You are not present here. I will file a complaint against you and suspend you, the judge is my relative. I will file a case. I am a class two officer."

Loksatta reported that the doctor tried to explain that the OPD was not in service, but the officer did not listen. He eventually left the premises on a two-wheeler. The entire incident was captured on a mobile phone and has since gone viral on social media.

Following the verbal abuse, the doctor approached the police station demanding immediate action against the inspector. As a result, the police officer has been suspended, and a departmental inquiry has also been initiated to establish the facts and recommend further disciplinary action if necessary.
