Doctor, female staff of Kalasa CHC attacked by 3 miscreants
Chikkamagaluru: Another incident of physical assault against healthcare professionals occurred at Kalasa Taluk Community Health Center (CHC), where an on-duty doctor and a female staff member were allegedly attacked by three men. Following the attack, the doctor expressed his intention to resign which has left many patients in distress.
As per a recent local media report, the doctor was allegedly assaulted while he was attending a patient. It is reported that even though the doctor filed a complaint at the Kalasa police station against the three miscreants, no action has been taken against the accused so far. Rumours have emerged that the attackers may be associated with a political party and are being shielded from arrest due to political influence.

The incident took place on Monday when the doctor was attending to a patient who had sustained injuries from a fall. At that moment, the three accused entered the CHC and began attacking the doctor. The miscreants allegedly tore the doctor’s shirt and caused a scene within the facility, reports Udayavani.
To prevent the situation from escalating further, a female staff member attempted to intervene but was allegedly threatened and assaulted as well. The reason behind the attack is unknown.
It came to light that this was not the first time that a doctor from Kalasa CHC was assaulted. Previously, another doctor who had served for the past ten months was also assaulted.
Following this, other doctors have become reluctant to work at the facility with the complainant already announcing his decision to resign. His resignation has left many patients in distress, as they are now uncertain about their access to medical care.
