Ahmedabad: In a shocking incident, a PG medical student allegedly committed suicide days after securing admission in the MD (Medicine) course at BJ Medical College.

The 25-year-old doctor, hailing from Surat, was found in a pond at Saij Village in Dholka taluka of Ahmedabad district on Tuesday morning, an officer of Ahmedabad rural police informed TOI.

According to TOI report, the doctor allegedly killed himself within 24 hours of securing admission to the medical course at BJ Medical College.

Dholka rural police have registered a case of accidental death in the matter.

As per police villagers found the scooter of the doctor near the pond on Tuesday and informed the police. In fact the villagers spotted the doctor's body floating in the pond while the police were trying to find the owner of the scooter.

Neither a suicide note nor the mobile phone of the medico was found on the body.

"We only found his college identity card, through which we intimated his classmates," an officer told TOI.

He had been reported missing on Monday morning. In fact, several posts were circulating on social media describing the doctor and reporting him to be missing. Those Twitter posts claimed that the doctor went missing since Monday 10 pm from Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad.

Even though he had attended classes for a while, he stopped going after some time and reappeared for the PG medical entrance. This year he secured admission to the medicine course at BJ Medical College and attended duties on Saturday.

Mentioning that the PG medico had shared about his first day work experience, a fellow student told TOI, "*** was my classmate in the MBBS course. His father had died of cardiac arrest in 2010. His mother is a homemaker and they come from a humble background. He was a bright student."

While commenting on the matter, a senior of the late medico said, "If a student has depression or work-related issues, we counsel them. *** did not tell anyone at the college about his problems. We are all in shock on finding out about his death."
