An accidental death report was registered by the Matunga police who are also investigating whether the case can be an abetment to suicide.
The assistant commissioner of police Neeta Phadke of Matunga division had received a phone call on Monday from the doctor's daughter residing in Texas, United States who informed the commissioner that she had received text messages from her father, who is a resident of Telang road in Matunga stating that he had taken 80 pills in an attempt to suicide.
The team of police officials who reached the spot had also found a note written by the doctor where he had written that he was going through depression attributing the reason to the attitude of his spouse.
The daughter said that she, her mother and sister would be unable to reach him since they are in the US. ACP Phadke and the police officials immediately reached the spot and took the doctor to the Sion hospital. His condition was critical, so the doctors began treating him immediately thereafter.
As per the media report in TOI, the daughter informed the police that their parents often used to fight and their relationship was not good. The police have asked her to send them the original text messages that the doctor had sent her so they can investigate.
