Doctor succumb to cardiac arrest while treating patient

Hyderabad: In an unfortunate incident, a 40 year old doctor in Kamareddy district died due to cardiac arrest while treating his patient on Sunday who also passed away moments after his death.

The doctor passed away at a nursing home in Gandhari mandal in Kamareddy district, where he was giving treatment to a senior citizen who was suffering from cardiac issues.

The patient, a 60 year old senior citizen who was a resident of Gunjala thanda, was immediately taken to the SV Srija nursing home in Gandhari mandal after he developed a cardiac arrest in the morning.

However, the doctor who was treating the patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) suddenly collapsed in between. According to a media report in The New Indian Express, the doctor already had a stent in his heart.

The colleagues of the doctor tried to save him, but the doctor did not respond to their attempts and passed away. The hospital staff then shifted the doctor's body from the ICU, since they were not left with any other choice.

The condition of the patient also deteriorated following which his relatives took him to another hospital, where he was declared dead.

A staff told the daily, "It all happened in seconds. The doctor was attending to the patient Naik when he collapsed suddenly and died." Following the incident, the staff at the hospital and the relatives of the patient was seen crying.

The Hans India reports that the residents of Kamareddy queued up at the hospital on a large scale after coming to know that a young doctor had died.

The doctor was a native of Mahbubabad district and was also working as an assistant professor in Nizamabad district medical college, where he stayed in a portion atop the hospital, reports Telangana Today. He also used to run a private clinic in Gandhari. The body of both, the doctor and the patient was taken to their native places for conducting the last rites.
