Domestic violence: Husband thrashes doctor wife after death of their newborn
Ahmedabad: A 33-year-old doctor working with a government-run hospital in Madhavpura on Saturday filed a complaint in Vejalpur police station against her husband for domestic violence and abandoning her after their newborn baby died.
The victim lives in the Vejalpur area of the city. She alleged in her FIR that her husband thrashed and abandoned her after their newborn died just 12 days after the birth.
Her husband is a dentist in Khedbrahma Civil Hospital and a resident of Gandhinagar. The woman alleged that whenever she refused to ask for money from her parents, she was beaten by her husband and in-laws.

Her harassment and domestic violence started to root after she married the man in 2015 and nearly six months after their marriage, her husband and in-laws started harassing her over domestic issues.
The wife gave birth to their first child in May 2020, and she stayed at her parents' house until she recovers. Unfortunately, the newborn girl died 12 days after her birth from breathing problems. After getting the news from her wife, he abused and cursed her over the phone. He also told her that she bought bad fortune for him and that termed her unlucky for him.

Later, he came to meet her where he allegedly thrashed her and abandoned her at her parents' place. The complainant's husband's relative called her father on February 17, 2022, and informed him that he wanted a divorce from her.
TOI reports that she filed a complaint of domestic violence, causing hurt, uttering abusive words, criminal intimidation, and abetment against her husband and in-laws at Vejalpur police station after trying to reconcile but was unsuccessful.
Medical Dialogues team had recently reported a Similar case in which a woman from Pali had been allegedly harassed by her husband and in-laws by demanding Rs 20 lakh dowry so that the husband could open a hospital. Unable to tolerate it any longer, she filed a complaint of dowry harassment and domestic violence against him.
