Dr G Jagadeesh gets additional charge of SVIMS Director-cum Vice-Chancellor
Tirupati: Dr G. Jagadeesh, Director of Balaji Institute of Surgery, Research and Rehabilitation for the Disabled (BIRRD) Trust Hospital, Tirupati, has been given the additional charge of Director-cum Vice-Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), Tirupati.
The appointment comes after the three-year tenure of the former SVIMS Director-cum-Vice Chancellor, Dr R.V. Kumar, ended on August 25, 2026.
An order issued by Executive Officer, Muddada Ravi Chandra stated, “ Consequent on relief of Dr RV Kumar and in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 17(5) of the SVIMS Act 12 of 1995 read with Section 8 (1) amended Act 24 of 2021, the Chairman of SVIMS hereby place Dr G.Jagadesh, Director, BIRRD Trust Hospital, Tirupati as Full additional charge to the post of Director-cum-Vice Chancellor, Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), Tirupati with effect from 25.08.2026, until further orders or until a regular appointment to the said post is made, whichever is earlier.”
“Dr R.V. Kumar, Director-cum-Vice Chancellor, SVIMS, is requested to hand over the complete charge of the post of the Director-cum-Vice Chancellor, SVIMS to Dr G.Jagadesh, Director, BIRRD Trust Hospital, Tirupati accordingly,” it further added.
Dr. Jagadeesh is an experienced orthopaedic specialist and academician with extensive leadership experience across prominent healthcare institutions in Andhra Pradesh. He has served as Director of BIRRD Trust Hospital, Tirupati, and as Lead Consultant in Orthopaedics and Academic Director at Ramesh Hospitals and Ramesh Hospitals, Guntur.
He has also served as Senior Consultant in Orthopaedics at DVC Hospital and Research Centre and Director and Head of the Department of Orthopaedics at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Research and Rehabilitation for the Disabled.
Earlier, he served as Director and Head of the Department of Orthopaedics at Balaji Institute of Surgery, Research and Rehabilitation for the Disabled. His academic background includes studies at Mangalore University, Andhra University and Rangaraya Medical College.
