The award was presented by Ms Bansuri Swaraj, Member of Parliament, New Delhi Constituency during the Doctors Day Award Function held on Sunday 5th July, 2026, at Jawaharlal auditorium, AIIMS New Delhi.
Other Dignitaries present were Dr S.C.L. Gupta, Dr G.S.Grewal, Dr M.K. Mudgil, President, Dr.Pramod Gutam, Hony Secretary and Dr Chetan Gupta, Hony Treasurer, IMA South Delhi Branch.

Expressing his gratitude on receiving the award, Dr Kohli said, "I am deeply honoured to receive the Chikitsa Ratan Award at Doctors Day Celebration. This recognition reflects not only my personal journey in medicine but also the support and inspiration I have received from my teachers, colleagues, patients, and family. It further motivates me to continue contributing to clinical excellence, medical education, and public health."
Organised by Indian Medical Association, South Delhi Branch, the event was held in collaboration with several prominent institutions, including Bhasin Pathlabs, hope Oncology and RG Stone hospital. National Doctors' Day is celebrated on July 1st every year. This date comemorates the birth and death anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a legendary physician, freedom fighter, and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal, who was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1961.
Dr Kohli currently serves as a Consultant in Internal Medicine at Sitaram Bhartia Institute of Science and Research, Fortis Vasant Kunj and Apollo Clinic, East of Kailash. Over the course of his medical career, he has been associated with several leading healthcare institutions in Delhi, including Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, and Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj.
A graduate of Kasturba Medical College, Dr Kohli holds a Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Internal Medicine and is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP-UK). He completed his post-graduate super-speciality training in Nephrology at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, obtained ECFMG certification in 2011, and was awarded membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2017.
His academic credentials also include postgraduate qualifications in Clinical Endocrinology and Diabetes, Advanced Diabetes Care and Comorbidities, and Advanced Cardiology and ECG from the Royal College of Physicians.
Dr Kohli has made notable contributions to medical education and professional development. He has independently organised more than 35 Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes and authored over 200 medical articles published across various medical bulletins and healthcare platforms, including Medical Dialogues.
He has been actively involved with professional medical organisations, serving as Asset Secretary and Associate Editor of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), South Delhi Branch, and as an Executive Member of the Delhi Medical Association. Through these roles, he has contributed significantly to academic initiatives, professional education, and medical communication. He has also been associated with television and electronic media platforms, conducting and presenting public health awareness programmes.
An active researcher and academician, Dr Kohli has contributed to several dissertations and publications in nephrology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, and internal medicine. Among his notable academic achievements is the presentation of his research titled "One-year Outcome of Sensitized Kidney Transplant: A Single Centre Study" at ISNCON 2017.
The Chikitsa Ratan Award is regarded as a recognition of excellence and leadership in healthcare, honouring professionals who have made significant contributions to medicine, research, innovation, and public health.
