First-year PG medico of MP Shah Medical College allegedly commits suicide in hostel room

Jamnagar: A first-year PG medical student allegedly committed suicide by injecting himself with excessive dose of anesthesia in his hostel room on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as a 26-year-old medico hailing from Rajkot, who was pursuing his post-graduation at the Department of Anesthesia in MP Shah Medical College in Jamnagar.
As per a recent media report in the Times of India, the PG medico was spotted lying dead on his bed in Room 608 of the college's PG hostel. Initial investigation suggested that the student might have committed suicide by injecting himself with a heavy dose of anesthesia.
However, police are awaiting autopsy report to determine the exact cause of his death.
Meanwhile, the parents of the medico have been informed about the tragedy. His roommates and colleagues are also being questioned by the police. The police have not yet revealed what might have compelled the medico to take the drastic step, however, they suspect that the deceased injected himself with some lethal dose of anesthesia.

The untimely death of a young medico has brought grief into the medical community, reports the daily.

A few days ago a similar incident occurred in Mumbai where a third-year PG Medical student allegedly committed suicide in the same manner by injecting herself with a heavy dose of anaesthesia. The medical was a 29-year-old MBBS doctor pursuing MD on Anesthesia from civic-run King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital was reportedly under stress due to her academics.
