Former CMO, 3 Ballia district hospital doctors booked in alleged forgery case

Ballia: A case has been registered against a former chief medical officer (CMO) and three doctors from a district hospital in Ballia, and another individual for alleged forgery and other offences following a court order, police said on Friday.
The case was filed at the Kotwali police station in Ballia following the complaint of a 64-year-old Jai Nath Ram against the former chief medical officer, the district hospital's radiologist, two other doctors and an individual.
According to police, the accused have been booked under Sections 419 (punishment for cheating by personation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc.), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) of the IPC, reports PTI.

Citing the FIR, officials said that the complaint alleges that the individual had previously lodged a case against Jai Nath Ram’s son in 2019, accusing him of an attack with the intent to kill, allegedly due to personal enmity. At the time, Kumar was a minor.
Pursuant to an order from the Juvenile Justice Board, the district hospital determined Kumar’s age to be 20 years, and an age certificate was issued by the hospital on January 17, 2022.
However, according to officials, the individual allegedly used his influence and conspired to tamper with the age certificate, altering the recorded age from 20 years to 22 years.
The former chief medical officer, radiologist and the two doctors also played a role in the case.
Kotwali police station SHO Praveen Kumar Singh confirmed on Friday that a case has been registered, and the matter is under investigation following an order issued on August 19 by Chief Judicial Magistrate Shailesh Kumar Pandey.
