Hyderabad: Gramodaya Chamber of Commerce and Technology (GCOT), founded by the alumni of Osmania University on Tuesday announced that it elected Dr Pratap Reddy as the Chairman for the 150th Gandhi Jayanthi Utsav scheduled to be held in the first week of October.

Dr. Pratap Reddy was elected at a meeting conducted by various alumni on Sunday.

Dr Reddy's services are Nationally recognized as the founder of the People's Hospital, a key member of Gandhi Medical College alumni, President of the Telangana Chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and various service activities, a statement here said.

GCOT had already announced that it will honour 150 individuals and organizations at the National level with the "Gramodaya Bandhu Mitra Puraskars" for rendering outstanding services in the field of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In view of the prevailing Covid situation, GCOT decided to hold the event online.

NABARD Chairman Dr Govinda Rajulu Chintala and PJTSAU Vice Chancellor Dr V Praveen Rao have already been honoured with these awards.

On this occasion, GCOT will be releasing a Global Declaration with the motto "Re-Imagining India for New Global Order" to reiterate India's wisdom for global evolution in the wake of the Corona crisis.

During the last 74 years of independent India, village monographs have not been profiled for the six lakh plus villages in the country. GCOT has developed a technology platform to enable the village monograph project and the same shall be launched at the upcoming award celebrations.

This technology enables decentralised mode of collection of over 200 parameters, which includes qualitative and quantitative data, for each village and tries to link the specifics of the respective villages with the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP).

The meeting was attended by GCOT Chairman Shyam Prasad Reddy, Founder Delhi Vasanth, Directors P Ram Reddy, Suresh Benjamin, Advisor CA Ramchander Pulijala, CEO Sravan Madap, COO Kameshwar Raju, and Dr Ravinder.
