Hisar doctor alleges former hospital employee deleted Ayushman data, blackmailed him; arrested
Hisar: A doctor in Hisar has alleged that a former hospital employee deleted data linked to the Ayushman scheme and later allegedly blackmailed him by filing complaints with multiple government departments. Following the complaint, the Urban Estate police arrested the accused.
The accused, a resident of Urban Estate-2, was arrested based on a complaint filed by the operator of Surya Hospital near Dabda Chowk. Police said a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act, the Daily reported.
According to the complaint, the doctor had appointed the accused as an Ayushman Mitra at the hospital in 2022. The accused allegedly resigned from the position in January, after which he blocked the hospital's Ayushman ID and deleted patient-related data, the complaint alleged.
The complaint further alleged that the accused subsequently filed complaints with the Ayushman department, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) office, Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) and GST department.
Police said he allegedly received Rs 5.7 lakh through bank transfers for withdrawing the complaints. The complaint alleged that the accused again filed fresh complaints with different departments in June and demanded additional money.
Before making the arrest, police reportedly collected evidence from the Ayushman, EPFO, GST and CMO offices and examined bank transaction records.
Speaking to TOI, SP Siddhant Jain said Hisar Police would continue to act against cybercrime and blackmailing.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that in a shocking incident, the Jogeshwari police have booked four unidentified individuals, including a woman, for allegedly attempting to extort Rs 15 lakh from a civic medical officer by blackmailing him with a purported video. The 45-year-old complainant is a medical officer posted at the Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari East and resides in Borivali West. According to police officials, the accused allegedly tried to blackmail the doctor using a video that purportedly showed him working at a private establishment, an act prohibited for government doctors
