Indore: The trend of doctors falling victim to online investment frauds is on the rise across the country. In a recent case, an Indore-based doctor was duped of Rs 3.08 crore by a woman who lured him with promises of high investment returns. The police are actively investigating the matter to trace the culprits.

Despite repeated warnings from police authorities about the increasing number of fraud cases and ways to prevent them, the doctor fell victim to the scam and ended up losing a large amount of money.

The scam began a few days ago when the doctor was contacted by a woman named Aaru Bhatt, also known as Aarti Bhatt, on a social media platform. The woman discussed an investment plan with the doctor on WhatsApp and asked him to join an online trading portal named WEBULL.

Initially, the woman sent a link and collected the doctor’s details on the pretext of registration. After showing small profits on his investments, she convinced him to invest larger amounts, promising higher returns. Therefore, the doctor transferred Rs 1 crore to a bank account given by the fraudster in the hope of more money, as reported by Free Press Journal

But his hopes were soon crushed into reality when he neither received his high returns nor the principal amount that he had invested. When the doctor tried to withdraw his earnings, he was told by a supposed customer service representative that he needed to pay 30% income to receive money directly in his bank account.

Following this, the doctor transferred Rs 55 lakh as income tax and was assured that his amount was released. However, he never received the amount in his bank. This led him to believe that he was scammed.

The doctor then approached the police station and filed a complaint against the woman. A case has been registered in this regard and an investigation is underway.
