Khan said the demand for registration has gone up significantly as all the universities concerned with MBBS courses issued final year results in May-June this year. Around a thousand interns completed their compulsory internship during the same time.
Also, 255 foreign medical graduates (FMGs) were selected for compulsory rotatory medical internship in various medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir as per their merit in FMG Exam conducted by the National Board of Examination (NBE).
Khan said the J-K Medical Council is also proposing to hire more staff to overcome the backlog in a short period of time and expedite the process of registrations. Also J-K Medical Council is contemplating digitization of records of all registered medical practitioners registered with it since the inception.
