Bhopal: In a shocking incident, a junior doctor from Gandhi Medical College was allegedly threatened with a fake love jihad case involving two female junior doctors, assaulted, and forced to pay Rs 50,000 by two police constables at Kaliyasot Dam in Bhopal. The two constables have now been suspended in connection to the case.

The incident took place on November 28 when the junior doctor visited the spot with two junior women doctors. According to the complaint, the constables, Matadeen from Tila Jamalpura police station and Sunil from Habibganj police station, were drinking at the dam along with two other men.

An argument broke out after the constables questioned the doctor’s name. The group then allegedly told the women doctors that the doctor would “trap them in a Love Jihad case,” and later assaulted him.

The accused personnel further threatened to implicate him in a false case and extorted Rs 2500 in cash and another Rs 2500 via UPI, which was transferred to the account of constable Sunil’s friend.

The following day, the Junior Doctors’ Association (JUDA) filed a complaint at Koh-e-Fiza police station and staged a protest demanding action.

Acting on the complaint, Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra ordered an inquiry by ACP Anjali Raghuvanshi. He later suspended both constables based on suspicious conduct.

Police commissioner Mishra told Free Press Journal, "Prima facie, the conduct of both constables was found suspicious, leading to their suspension. The suspended cops were not posted at Chunabhatti police station, where the incident took place."
