Kerala: Medical Officer assaulted for taking pictures of food items stored in restaurant's washroom; 3 arrested
Payyanur: A Payyannur based doctor has been beaten up by the owner and the staff of the restaurant after he was caught taking pictures of food items including vegetables which were stored in the toilets of the restaurant.
The incident took place on Sunday morning at 10 am in the KC restaurant which was situated at the KSTP road, as per a media report in the Deshabhimani.

The doctor is a Medical Officer at Banthaduk PHC Medical Office. He had gone to the restaurant with his other staff and relatives, comprising around 31 members for dining. The doctor and the team had gone to the restaurant in Pilathara while they were on their way to an outing to Kannur.
Inside the restaurant, when he went to the toilet, he saw that the packs which appeared to contain groceries and vegetables were stacked there. He subsequently took pictures and videos of the stored packs and made the public know about it. When the restaurant people got to know about it, they attacked the doctor and seized his phone in which he had taken pictures and videos of the stored food items.
The restaurant based staff and owner assaulted the doctor after the incident. The people who had accompanied the doctor immediately informed the police about the incident, reports the Kerala Kaumudi.
The Pariyaram police arrested the hotel owner Moideen(28) from Chumattuthangi KC House, sister Sameena(29), and hotel security T Dasan(70). They all were charged under non-bailable offence, reports the Deshabhimani. A notice was also issued to the hotel shortly after the incident took place.
The Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about a similar incident of doctors' assault where a mob of villagers vandalized the Manikpur Primary Health Center in the Dhalai district of Tripura and allegedly thrashed an on-duty doctor after the death of two minor patients. The deceased was identified as 8-years-old Darmita and 5-year-old Dharmanjay. The victim was identified as Dr. Pranab Debbarm.
