Mumbai: A private hospital doctor in Govandi has been booked by the Crime Branch for preparing fake documents to prove the delivery of a 10-day old infant who was brought all the way from Rajasthan for adoption.

This comes in connection with a child trafficking racket case that was being investigated by the crime branch based on an anonymous complaint received in 2018.
Apart from the doctor, a man identified as Rajesh Jangam, a resident of Mulund has also been booked under IPC sections for cheating, forgery, breach of trust and criminal intimidation.
According to a recent media report in the Times of India, in January 2018 the man brought the baby to the doctor's Hospital. His wife was also admitted to the hospital. The doctor then helped the man and prepared fake documents to prove the man and his wife to be the biological parents of the child.
"The three made it appear the baby was delivered at the doctor's hospital. With the doctor's help, they made fake documents and submitted them for a birth certificate from BMC,'' an officer told the daily. P
Police are still investigating the case and recording the statement of the duo.

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that a psychiatrist working with a private hospital was arrested by the Bengaluru Police for allegedly stealing and selling a baby from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) maternity home to a couple for Rs 14.5 lakh, falsely informing them that the child was born to them through surrogacy.
