NHM computer assistant at Kurukshetra hospital allegedly commits suicide; Female doctor, staff booked for abetment
Kurukshetra: A woman doctor along with other staff members working at the LNJP civil hospital have been allegedly accused of the suicide of a 35-year-old Kamal Kumar. The man committed suicide on Saturday by consuming a poisonous substance at the hospital.
Kamal was a computer assistant under National Health Mission in the hospital and was a resident of Shanti Nagar, Kurukshetra. He is survived by his wife and a minor son.

On the same day, Kamal's wife, Kavita Rani went to the Kurukshetra University police station and filed a complaint against the woman doctor who has been identified as Nitin Kumari, and other unknown staff members alleging that the doctor had been mentally harassing her husband Kamal.
The police then registered a case under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Kavita also claimed that nothing was done against the doctor despite repeated complaints lodged at the civil surgeon's office. Kavita expressed her anger by saying "The doctor has been using her political approach to avoid action on her and she too visited our house and insulted Kamal. We also filed a complaint at the CM window against the accused doctor but nothing was done."

Kamal's family members kept the Kurukshetra-Pihowa main road jammed in front of the main gate of the Civil Hospital by protesting on Sunday from 12 noon to 3 pm and also demanding that post-mortem will not be conducted till the arrest of the accused doctor.
The family members alleged that due to the negligence of the hospital authorities, Kamal had to pay the price by committing suicide as he could no longer take any more. They also said that the hospital was aware of the harassment against Kamal but decided not to speak against it.

The protest was dropped by the family members after Goel assured them and they allowed the hospital to start the post-mortem.
