Ophthalmology resident doctor at GMCH Nagpur found dead in hotel room

According to a PTI report, the deceased has been identified as a resident of Chikhli in Buldhana district. He was undergoing residency in the ophthalmology department.

Police said he arrived in Nagpur on January 27 and was staying in a hotel in the Ganeshpeth area as he had not been allotted a hostel room.

As per a TOI report, he completed his MBBS from Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai. He had joined GMCH's ophthalmology postgraduate programme on January 27 and had yet to be allotted a PG hostel room, said college authorities.

When he didn’t report to duty and could not be contacted, his family alerted the hotel staff and police. On breaking open the locked room, police personnel found him hanging, reports PTI.

A case of accidental death has been registered. Police said he was under stress, and further investigation is underway.

The doctor's death left colleagues and fellow students deeply shaken, with many expressing grief over the loss of a young medical professional at the very start of his postgraduate journey.
