Gurugram: In an incident of fake pharmacist job scam reported in the city, a doctor and his aids have been arrested by the police for allegedly cheating 13 people of Rs 9 lakh by offering them fake jobs as pharmacists.

According to the police, the doctor and his two aids promised the aspirants that they would provide them with a position in the pharmacy under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).

Nuh’s Deputy Civil Surgeon, Dr Vikram Singh, is the one who observed the alleged scam and reported it to the police. He filed a complaint at the police station claiming that someone in the department was cheating people on the pretext of giving them jobs by misusing departmental documents, letter heads and stamps.

Dr Singh suspected the accused doctor, who turned out to be the mastermind behind the scam. The arrested doctor was posted at the Primary Health Center in Ujina and resident of Sector 21, Faridabad. 

The complaint was filed on March 22 at the Nuh police station. However, the case was later transferred to the cyber crime police and the accused along with his aids, were arrested on April 12, reports The Tribune.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the trio had cheated people by offering fake jobs. They are now in police custody and an investigation in underway. An FIR was registered on March 23 at the Cybercrime police station, Nuh.   

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that several aspirants in the Sundargarh district of Odisha had been duped by fraudsters under the pretext of promised jobs in the Sundargarh Government Medical College in lieu of money.The fraudsters involved in the fake job racket promised data entry, attendant, security guard and receptionist jobs in the medical college to a number of aspirants.
