Rajasthan gynaecologist arrested in Rs 3,500 bribery case
Jaipur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested a gynaecologist at a Community Health Centre (CHC) in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3,500 from a man to perform a medical procedure on his wife after she suffered a miscarriage, officials said.
The accused, a medical officer and gynaecologist, had allegedly demanded Rs 4,000 for conducting a procedure after the complainant’s wife, who was around three months pregnant, suffered fetal death, news agency PTI reported.

The complainant approached Rajasthan’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), alleging that the doctor had demanded a bribe and refused to perform the procedure unless it was paid.
Following verification of the complaint, an ACB team laid a trap and caught the doctor red-handed while allegedly accepting Rs 3,500 from the complainant, an ADG ACB Smita Srivastava said in Jaipur.
The accused was arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that a medical officer caught allegedly taking a Rs 5,000 bribe in Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol district has led to the discovery of a much bigger irregularity in the health department after authorities found he was simultaneously posted in two other districts, prompting an investigation, officials said.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused was serving as a contractual medical officer not only at the Ufri Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Shahdol, but also at facilities in Sheopur and Khargone. The unusual simultaneous postings have raised questions about attendance and salary payments, they said.
