Haryana ACB arrests Deputy Civil Surgeon in Rs 50,000 bribery case

Gurugram- The Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a Deputy Civil Surgeon and district PNDT nodal officer posted in Nuh district on Sunday after he was allegedly caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
According to the ACB, the doctor was arrested following a complaint alleging that he demanded ₹5 lakh to get the hospital de-sealed and to have the names of the complainant and his wife removed from a criminal case registered against them.
The complainant and his wife were running a hospital named 'Labuja Karim' in Punhana, Haryana. Following an inspection by the Health Department on June 4, several irregularities were found. Therefore, the facility was sealed, and a case was registered at the Punhana City police station.
Subsequently, the complainant contacted the ACB after arranging for ₹50,000. He alleges that the surgeon demanded ₹50,000 to remove the hospital's seal and settle the matter, as reported by TOI.
Acting on a complaint, the Gurugram unit of the ACB laid a trap and arrested the doctor while he was allegedly accepting the bribe. The arrest was made around 2 PM near a brick kiln at the Punhana-Shikrawa mod. However, the bribe amount was later recovered from the accused's vehicle.
As part of the operation, the complainant handed over chemically treated currency notes to the accused near the Punhana-Shikrawa turn on Monday afternoon. A hand-wash test was conducted on the spot, during which the solution turned pink, indicating contact with the chemical applied to the currency notes.
A case has been registered against the doctor under the BNS and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The accused officer has been taken into custody and brought to Gurugram for further legal proceedings. He will be produced in court, and further investigation is underway.
