Ranchi doctor allegedly murdered by two assailants; one arrested

Ranchi: In a shocking incident, a doctor was allegedly brutally murdered in the Budhmu area of Ranchi by two assailants who slit his throat. The police have arrested one of the two accused, while the other is still on the run.

According to police sources, the doctor was returning home from his clinic when two assailants suddenly attacked him and killed him in a gruesome manner on Saturday night. The victim, locally known as the “Bengali Doctor,” was a familiar and respected figure in the area, reports PTI.

The deceased doctor was a resident of Rajapur village in the Twenty-four Parganas district of West Bengal. For the last ten years, he has been living on rent in the house of Tabarak Ansari in Matve village and providing treatment facilities to the local people.  

Upon receiving information, Budhmu police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to RIMS, Ranchi, for post-mortem examination.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the murder stemmed from a personal dispute.

The police have arrested one of the two accused, while the other is still on the run. Officials are interrogating the arrested suspect to uncover the full motive and sequence of events.

According to the police, the reason behind the murder is said to be a dispute over a small matter. The accused was a drug addict, reports Jagran.

A senior police officer said that all possible angles are being investigated, and teams have been formed to track down the absconding accused.  

The incident has triggered panic and outrage among residents, who have demanded swift justice.

Police authorities have assured that the second accused will be arrested soon, and the case will be solved at the earliest.
