Hisar: In a case related to illegal sex determination, a court has granted 'default bail' to a Barwala-based doctor after police failed to file the chargesheet within the stipulated 60-day timeframe.

According to reports, the doctor was allegedly caught red-handed at a private clinic located in the Azad Nagar police station area of Hisar while conducting an illegal sex determination test.

However, acting on specific information, a team from the Health Department, led by Dr Anamika Bishnoi, conducted a raid at the clinic.

As per the Tribune media news report, on April 2, the court of Additional Sessions Judge Natasha Sharma of the Fast Track Special Court in Hisar first heard his regular bail application and sought a response from the prosecution.

Subsequently, on April 15, after hearing arguments and considering the prosecution's response, the court granted the plea for default bail.

A case was registered under the relevant provisions of the PCPNDT Act, along with Sections 120-B and 34 of the IPC.

The doctor has faced similar allegations in the past as well; numerous cases linked to illegal sex-determination tests have been registered against him over the years. Before this, action had been taken against him in connection with cases registered in 1999, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2021, and October 2023.

In one such incident that occurred in October 2023, health officials from Hisar and Sirsa busted a racket involved in fetal sex determination, leading to action being initiated against him.

In addition to his medical practice, he has also been active in politics and has contested several Assembly elections from the Barwala constituency on various tickets, including as an independent candidate and on behalf of the JJP.
