Hosur: In a disturbing incident from Tamil Nadu, a 25-year-old female dentist was allegedly assaulted by a male colleague after she repeatedly rejected his marriage proposals.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, the doctor said, "He kept forcing me to marry him even after I said no many times. I never imagined he would turn violent. I want justice for what I went through".

The victim, a recent dental graduate and resident of Sanasandiram near Hosur, began working at the private dental clinic opposite the Hosur Government Hospital about six weeks ago. The clinic is owned by the accused, who also works as a duty doctor at another private hospital in the area.

Approximately 20 days into her job, the accused proposed marriage to the doctor. She firmly rejected him, stating her disinterest. Though he initially appeared to accept her decision, he resumed pursuing her, culminating in the violent incident.

On the day of the assault, he took her to the Patthala Palli area under the pretense of a conversation. There, he once again demanded that she marry him. When she rejected his proposal firmly, he began harassing her and insisted on knowing the reasons behind her refusal.

According to Krithika’s statement, Selvan later took her back to the clinic instead of her home. "Once inside, he forcibly took my mobile phone, gold chain, bracelet, and watch and assaulted me further," she told ANI.

The brutal attack only came to an end when clinic staff members overheard the commotion and intervened. They immediately rushed the victim to the government hospital for emergency medical care. Her mother also arrived at the clinic after being unable to contact her daughter by phone.

After receiving information, Hosur Town Police began investigating. Since the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Adhikaratty Police Station, the victim was asked to file her complaint there. Accordingly, Dr Krithika filed a formal complaint with the Adhikaratty police, who are now conducting a detailed probe, reports ANI.

As per preliminary investigation, the doctor, who is reportedly married but separated, is currently under investigation. A formal police complaint has been filed with the Adhikaratty Police Station.

The case has sparked outrage and concern over the safety of women in workplaces, especially in professional environments like hospitals.
