Hyderabad: The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) on Tuesday conducted surprise inspections at several unauthorised medical centres in Shabad, a town on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The council identified 12 illegally operated establishments, all run by quacks without recognised medical qualifications.

The TGMC team, led by Chairman Dr. K. Mahesh Kumar and Vice-Chairman Dr. G. Srinivas, found that most of these clinics were small, single-room setups operating without valid licenses or qualified personnel.

According to Siasat, TGMC chairman Dr K Mahesh Kumar and vice-chairman Dr G Srinivas said that fake doctors had been illegally treating patients using drugs like steroids, painkillers, and antibiotics.

“We will be filing cases against six individuals at the local police stations as per NMC 34, 54 Act and TSMPR Act 22, BNS Sections 318 and 319,” Dr Srinivas said, reports Telangana Today.

The TGMC has warned of serious health risks associated with receiving treatment from individuals without valid medical certification, including potentially fatal consequences from the unregulated use of steroids and antibiotics.

The facilities operated by quacks in Shabad included Om Sai First Aid Centre by Lingachari, Mustafa Clinic by Mustafa, Master Clinic by Venkatesh, Sri Sai Clinic by Anjayya, Shravan First Aid Centre by Balraj, and ZamZam Clinic by Md Ghouse Amzad. These centres were shut down within hours by the local district health authorities, reports Telangana Today.

The council has issued a strong warning to the public against seeking treatment from anyone who does not possess valid medical credentials. They also appealed to citizens to report any unqualified individuals offering medical services. A dedicated WhatsApp helpline — 9154382727 — has been set up for this purpose.

This action is part of TGMC’s ongoing statewide campaign to identify and eliminate fake medical practices.
