In a press note, Warangal CP Tarun Joshi reiterated that they did not have any such degrees or certificates. He said, "Both of them are friends. However, they set up the clinics and were collecting a consultancy fee of Rs.50 per head besides referring patients to various big hospitals and diagnostics centres in tri-cities for commissions."

The police and task force personnel raided the clinic and arrested the duo based on a credible tip-off. The CP stated, "Matwada and Inthezargunj police conducted raids at Kranthi Clinic in Kothawada and Saleema Clinic in Charbowli. It was found that the accused were running the clinics without any qualifications. They had put the fake degree certificates on display and cheated innocent people. They charged Rs 50 as a consultation fee and used to refer the patients to different diagnostic centres on a commission basis."

The police seized stethoscopes and other medical equipment in addition to Rs 1.29 lakh during the raid, reports the Telangana Today. The accused used to treat 30 to 40 patients daily, and they have treated around two lakh patients in the past 22 years without any authentic certificates or legal permission. They allegedly paid Rs 5,000 each to acquire those fake degree certificates from the Bihar institute in 1997.

Emmadi Kumar had worked at Dr. Rajaiah Hospital as an assistant, and Rafi had worked at Dr. AV Mohan Reddy Hospital for four years, as per a report in The New Indian Express. The CP noted that their work as assistants to some reputed doctors for a few years in the city helped them to do this.

The raid was led by Additional DCP Vaibhav R Gaikwad, with Regional Deputy Director of AYUSH Ravi Naik also being involved. The task force members reportedly received praises from Warangal Police Commissioner Tarun Joshi for their well-coordinated action.
