Thane doctor attempts suicide by consuming sleeping pills
Doctor
Thane: In a shocking incident, a doctor in Thane district allegedly attempted suicide on Tuesday by consuming 45 sleeping pills along with alcohol, following a dispute with his wife, police said. The doctor is currently undergoing treatment, and his condition is said to be stable.
The incident came to light when the doctor failed to report to his hospital the following day as per his routine. Concerned hospital staff, unable to reach him over several phone calls, visited his residence. Finding the door locked from the inside and repeated knocks unanswered, they broke open the door and discovered him lying unconscious on the floor. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he regained consciousness after receiving medical attention.

Police reports suggest that the doctor was under mental stress due to an alleged affair with a nurse at his hospital. Speaking to PTI, a police official said, “He was under mental stress due to an alleged affair with a nurse at his hospital. Preliminary probe suggests the nurse was pressuring him for marriage, leading to frequent quarrels with his wife.”
Investigators believe that a breakdown in communication between the doctor and the nurse may have worsened his emotional state. Authorities report that the nurse had stopped communicating after he expressed his inability to marry her due to his marital status.
