Third-year MBBS student of Calcutta National Medical College succumbs to dengue shock syndrome
Barasat: In an unfortunate incident, a 21-year-old medical student passed away recently at a private hospital in North 24-Parganas’ Barasat after suffering from the mosquito-borne disease - dengue.
The deceased has been identified as Prithviraj who was in his third year of MBBS at Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital. He was a resident of Rathtala in Barasat.
According to Sangbad Pratidin's news report, he was battling with fever for several days before being admitted to a private hospital in Barasat. Unfortunately, he succumbed to the illness on Thursday night at the same hospital.

His death certificate mentioned that the cause of his death was dengue shock syndrome.
In light of this incident, health experts have pointed out that the unpredictable weather conditions in the state are responsible for the increase in dengue cases. They have also stressed that the frequent temperature changes are endangering people's health.
