Medical Dialogues team had reported last month about the death of a 28-year-old doctor who was diagnosed with dengue at a hospital in Kolkata. He breathed his last in the early hours due to dengue haemorrhage shock syndrome.
Dengue (break-bone fever) is a viral infection that spreads from mosquitoes to people. Due to the sudden weather change, Dengue outbreaks are suspected to be spiking in the country. Since January 1, a total of 4,965 dengue cases have been registered in Delhi. In the last week alone, at least 525 cases of dengue were recorded, according to officials. Subsequently, health authorities in the capital have warned that dengue cases are expected to reach 5,000 this year.
