According to Kerala Kaumudi, the unfortunate event occurred around 10 am yesterday when arrived at the station to board the Ernakulam-Kannur Intercity Express to go to Kannur. However, she arrived late and the train had already prepared for departure. As the train was moving, she attempted to catch the train but the Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer stopped her as she was running to catch the train which could have resulted in serious injuries.

Hence, she stopped and noticed the train slowing down. Taking advantage of this, she tried to board the train again. Sadly, she couldn't reach safety and fell between the platform and the train. Fellow passengers in the train and the RPF officer tried to prevent her from falling but failed and she was struck in the gap.

She was immediately taken out and rushed to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital where she passed away during treatment. Her body was kept in the hospital for post-mortem examination.

She is survived by her husband, PT Sasidharan, a scientist at Kozhikode NIELIT, and her children, Jayashankar, a software engineer in Bengaluru, and Jayakrishnan, an engineering student in Sweden. She was also the sibling of Dr. M. Suresh, an esteemed professional at IIT Chennai.
