UP doctor arrested for allegedly raping patient after administering injection

Gonda: A doctor running a private clinic in the Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman patient after administering an injection. The woman alleged that the doctor threatened her with dire consequences if she informed anyone about the incident.

The matter came to light after a purported video of the incident began doing the rounds online. The police have arrested the accused.

The accused doctor of Khargupur police station limits ran a private clinic. On Tuesday, the victim visited him for treatment, and he allegedly raped her after administering an injection to her, the police said.

The woman alleged that the doctor threatened her with dire consequences if she informed anyone about the incident. However, a video of the incident was recorded by an unidentified person and made public.

Superintendent of Police Akash Tomar said, "An FIR was lodged against the accused doctor on the complaint of the woman on Thursda,y and he has been arrested. The woman has been sent for a medical examination."

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about a similar incident in which a government doctor and his assistant had been booked by the Gwalior police on charges of raping a 40-year-old woman on the pretext of providing her treatment at the clinic. The police asserted that the accused doctor allegedly offered her a sum of Rs 3 lakh for withdrawing the complaint. The woman suffered from a headache, following which she went to the Madhav dispensary of the Jaya Arogya hospital group in Gwalior.
