UP Shocker: Elderly doctor murdered near home

Greater Noida: In a shocking incident, a doctor was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Nagla Nainsukh village of Greater Noida on Tuesday evening.

The 65 year old doctor was a resident of Dadri area. The police stated that the doctor was on a field when he was attacked.

According to a media report in the Times of India, the initial investigation showed that old enmity is the reason behind the murder.

An officer of Dadri police station told TOI, "We received a call around 4.30pm that a man was lying with a bullet wound in a field. A team was sent to the spot and the man was taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival."

The body was sent for an autopsy, said the official, adding that they have begun an investigation.

The officer further added, "His family members have pointed to some old enmity between families in the village. We are cross-checking the information and scanning CCTV footage of the area to ascertain how the murder took place."

The relatives of the doctor said that they ran towards the field when they heard gunshots. A family member told the daily, "He was lying there, oozing blood. It appears that the assailants came on bikes and fled after shooting at him. We called the police."
