AIIMS Bathinda, IIT Indore partner to advance healthcare innovation

Bathinda: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indore, to promote healthcare innovation through collaborative research and medical technology development.

The partnership aims to combine clinical expertise with engineering innovation to develop affordable, patient-centric healthcare solutions.

Under the MoU, the two premier institutions will jointly work on interdisciplinary research, medical technology innovation, technology translation and capacity building. The collaboration also seeks to address real-world healthcare challenges by encouraging joint research and innovation.

The partnership will support prototype development, intellectual property (IP) generation, technology commercialisation, faculty and student exchange programmes, and other collaborative initiatives. Officials said the alliance is expected to accelerate the development of innovative healthcare technologies that can improve patient care. 

The collaboration is expected to create a platform where doctors, researchers and engineers can work together to design practical solutions for healthcare challenges. By combining medical expertise with engineering and technology, the institutions aim to support the development of innovative diagnostic tools, medical devices and digital health solutions that can improve patient care and make advanced technologies more accessible and affordable.

The MoU was signed under the leadership of Dr Ratan Gupta, Executive Director of AIIMS Bathinda, and Prof Suhas Joshi, Director of IIT Indore.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Gupta highlighted the need for closer collaboration between clinicians, researchers and engineers to develop innovative and cost-effective healthcare technologies. Prof Joshi also reaffirmed IIT Indore's commitment to working with AIIMS Bathinda to strengthen healthcare innovation through interdisciplinary research, reports TOI.

The collaboration is designed to create a long-term framework for research, innovation and technology development by leveraging the strengths of both institutions.
