Andhra CM inaugurates 150 bedded eye hospital

Kadapa: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated the Pushpagiri Vitreo Retina Institute on Sunday in Kadapa. The institute is built near Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences.

Pushpagiri Vitreo Retina Institute is a non-profit super specialty eye hospital that believes in equitable eye health for all. Established in 2007, they run on a cross-subsidy model and provide comprehensive and quality eye care to people from all sections of society.

Cutting-edge clinical care, visual rehabilitation, robust community health initiatives, and an efficient education system constitute the four pillars of the organization. Clinical and public health research, Innovation, and Advocacy are their other active areas of operation.

During the visit, the chief minister inspected the operation theatre, the 150-bed block, and departments at the hospital. R Govind Hari, the institute's founder-chairman and managing director, was appreciated by CM Jagan for his efforts to establish a state eye care hospital in his hometown. To help the people of the Kadapa district, he asked the hospital management to offer the best services to them.

As per a recent media report in Hans India, hospital chairman R Govindahari, representatives Dr. R Vishal Govindahari, Dr. Viswanath, and others were present on the occasion.

The State Government appointed Govind Hari as president of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams local advisory committee in Hyderabad and also as a special invitee to the TTD trust board in 2019.

Later, the CM attended the wedding of deputy chief minister SB Amzath Basha's daughter.

The aim of the institute is to deliver efficient and equitable eye care to the economically, socially, and geographically underserved population of our country. Its focus is to provide holistic, research-oriented, and rehabilitative eye services to people with visual disabilities.

Vision of the Institute

To contribute significantly towards eliminating blindness and ocular morbidity in our country through effective and novel eye health systems.
