Bareilly gets New Kidney Transplant Facility

Bareilly: A new initiative has been taken up by the private medical college and hospital in Bareilly by setting up a facility for kidney transplantation in the city.

Patients with chronic kidney diseases of Bareilly or coming from the far-off places like Uttarakhand will be relieved as this initiative has been made to treat them.

While talking with TOI, Director of the college, Aditya Murti said "Till now, the patients had to travel all the way to Delhi or Lucknow for their treatment and had to face inconvenience."

A kidney transplant only becomes necessary when the patient is on chronic dialysis and if within one year, the transplant procedure is done then the survival rate is as high as 95 per cent, said kidney transplant physician Dr Sanjay Kumar.

Further, he added that the patients are free from dialysis for 15 years after kidney transplantation, and women are able to conceive after dialysis.

It can also be seen that the Obesity may negatively affect kidney function in people with type 2 diabetes, particularly in women, according to a new study published in the Endocrine Society's Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism which was reported by Medical Dialogues team. 

Diabetic nephropathy, or the deterioration of kidney function in people with diabetes, is caused by high blood pressure and high blood sugar. Approximately one in three adults with diabetes has chronic kidney disease, and kidney diseases are the ninth leading cause of death in the United States. Kidney disease progresses over time to end-stage renal disease, and people with end-stage kidney disease often need a kidney transplant to stay alive, says the study.
