Gurugram Civil Lines Hospital construction to begin soon: Haryana DGHS

Bansal stated that land for the hospital is available, and the building plans and layout have already been approved. Now that the process of transitioning from the previous plan to develop a 750-bed facility has been completed, the executing agency will be directed to commence construction work. 

This project has remained stalled for years after the old building was demolished for reconstruction in 2019, raising concerns regarding the inadequate infrastructure of government healthcare services in the city.  

Meanwhile, Bansal conducted a surprise inspection of the Civil Hospital located in Sector 10, Gurgaon, and reviewed health facilities across the Gurgaon, Palwal, and Nuh districts. 

While speaking to the TOI, he said, “We met specialists and reviewed the issues they are facing. The focus is to strengthen services, reduce unnecessary referrals and ensure patients receive maximum treatment facilities at government hospitals”. 

During this visit, the emergency ward, laboratories, OPD, ICU facilities, and labor room services at the Sector 10 hospital were inspected.

Officials noted that several of the hospital's services, including laboratory facilities, X-ray services, emergency care, and ICU operations, were functioning satisfactorily. Furthermore, no major irregularities or complaints were found against the hospital staff. 

Additionally, expressing concern over the presence of private ambulances and auto-rickshaws near the emergency ward, Bansal alleged that some patients are being diverted to private hospitals.

“We have asked officials to take strict action as private ambulances and autorickshaws stationed near the emergency ward persuade patients to shift to private hospitals by claiming adequate treatment facilities are unavailable here,” he said.

The government is also working to accelerate other healthcare-related infrastructure projects across the state.
