The High Court has set the next hearing on the matter for June 19, aiming to ensure accountability in the implementation of these vital medical devices.
Currently, patients in urgent need of diagnostic services such as advanced imaging and ECGs are being referred to alternative healthcare facilities, leading to increased inconvenience and additional financial burdens for families.

The announcement was made following a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan, where ongoing redevelopment projects of government medical institutions across the state were assessed. As per the latest review, the redevelopment of SCB Medical College is in progress with a projected investment of ₹4,474.49 crore and a target completion date of June 2026. Upon completion of the first phase, the hospital’s bed capacity will expand to 3,796, with a vision to transform the institution into a centre of excellence in both healthcare delivery and medical education.
