Jalandhar: State Health and Family Welfare Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra inspected the Civil Hospital and its healthcare services and interacted with the patients. Along with this, he inspected OPD and wards.

Minister was shocked by witnessing the condition of the hospital with broken washroom doors, leaking coolers of drinking water and bikes parked alongside the ward area of the mother-child care centre.

Despite cleaning the hospital before his arrival, the hospital was still in a mess and needed proper improvement said the minister. Jalandhar Central MLA Raman Arora informed him about the condition of the hospital and asked him to visit the premises right away.

While inspecting the hospital, he interacted with the patients and asked them about the quality of services provided by the hospital. Later, he spoke with the hospital staff and learned about the irregular salary issues.

Meanwhile, Minister said "I will surely do the needful. The hospitals will be equipped with advanced technology treatment and healthcare facilities. Existing healthcare facilities will surely be upgraded on a priority basis."

Promising that the staff recruitment will take place soon, he also said that he would often visit the hospital to check its facilities.

The Minister also visited the Civil Hospital, Nawanshahr, and Sub-Division Hospital, Balachaur accompanied by MLA Dr Ajay Gupta, MD, Punjab Health System Corporation, Neelima, Director, Health, Dr Ranjit Singh, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr Amarjit Singh, Senior Medical Officer Dr Raju Chauhan and others.

He said that around 75 mohalla clinics would be made operational in Amritsar from August 15 and 109 by the end of this year, where primary health services would be provided to patients.

Minister told the Tribune, "Every mohalla clinic will have one medical officer, pharmacist, clinic assistant and helping staff. The patients will get aid for common ailments, first-aid, dressing and other facilities in one place. The patients will be registered here and their records will be compiled through the IT mode."

The Minister later said that a new 'health policy' will be introduced soon by the government. He said that he visited division-level hospitals to provide a group reality report to the government which would help to speed up the process of the new policy.

Citizens would benefit from the new health policy by receiving improved healthcare facilities from hospitals.
