Nandoshi hospital project renamed Lata-Asha Mangeshkar Institute of Medical Sciences
Pune: In a tribute to both legendary singers, the board of trustees of the Lata Mangeshkar Medical Foundation has decided to rename its proposed hospital project at Nandoshi in Pune as the 'Lata-Asha Mangeshkar Institute of Medical Sciences', following the demise of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle.
The decision has been taken to honour both sisters, two of the most iconic figures in Indian music, the foundation stated.
In view of Bhosle’s passing on Sunday, certain modifications have been made to the previously scheduled programme. Along with the foundation stone laying ceremony, a condolence meet will also be organised in her memory, news agency PTI reported.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar will attend the event as chief guests on April 16 at Nandoshi.
The programme will be presided over by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. Members of the Mangeshkar and Bhosle families will also be expected to present, it said.
During the programme, a formal resolution to establish the hospital will be expressed, along with a tribute to Asha Bhosle, according to the statement, reports PTI.
The foundation stated that the initiative seeks to combine a renewed commitment to advancing healthcare with a tribute to the legacy of the Mangeshkar sisters.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in a tribute befitting the legendary singer, the Lata Mangeshkar Medical Foundation (LMMF) announced plans to set up a 1000-bed super-speciality hospital in Nandoshi, off Sinhagad Road in Pune. The ambitious project will be named the Lata Mangeshkar Institute of Medical Sciences (LMIMS) and is being envisioned as one of Asia’s largest medical facilities. Dr Dhananjay Kelkar, Trustee of LMMF, confirmed that the foundation has submitted the necessary plans to local authorities.
