Rs 23.75 crore critical care unit inaugurated at Khammam Government Hospital
Khammam: A new 50-bed critical care unit has been inaugurated at the Government General Hospital in Khammam, Telangana, as part of an infrastructure upgrade aimed at strengthening healthcare services in the region.
The new facility was inaugurated by Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao on Tuesday evening.
The critical care unit has been established in a newly constructed building at the Government General Hospital. Constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 23.75 crore, the building adds dedicated capacity for critical care services at the government-run hospital.
Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao said the government was focusing on improving infrastructure and facilities in government hospitals as part of efforts to strengthen the public healthcare delivery system.

The Minister also stated that the infrastructure and facilities at the Khammam hospital would be upgraded further. According to him, the objective is to provide modern healthcare services to people from the region and ensure that the facilities available at the hospital are comparable with those in Hyderabad, reports The Hindu.
The commissioning of the 50-bed unit adds to the hospital’s infrastructure and is expected to support the provision of critical care within the government healthcare system in Khammam. The development is part of the broader emphasis on upgrading government hospital infrastructure to improve healthcare delivery in the region.
The inauguration was attended by Khammam Collector Divakara T.S., Police Commissioner Sunil Dutt and Hospital Superintendent Narender, among other officials.
The Government General Hospital in Khammam serves as an important public healthcare facility for the region. The addition of the new critical care unit, along with the proposed further strengthening of hospital infrastructure, is intended to enhance the availability of modern healthcare facilities for people seeking treatment at the government hospital.
