Hyderabad: Around 450 healthcare personnel, including doctors, nurses, technicians, and pharmacists, have been deployed from various government hospitals across the city to operationalise the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) at Sanathnagar.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that in a move to enhance healthcare infrastructure in Hyderabad, Telangana's Roads and Buildings Minister, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, announced that three new hospitals under the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) will begin operations by the end of 2025. These hospitals, set to be located in Sanathnagar, LB Nagar, and Alwal, are aimed at reducing the burden on the city's current public healthcare facilities.

The temporary deployment is expected to continue for two months until fresh appointments are sanctioned.
Speaking to the Deccan Chronicle, officials stated that two of the three TIMS hospitals will have attached medical colleges. The Maheshwaram Medical College will be shifted to LB Nagar TIMS, while the Quthbullapur Medical College will be attached to Alwal TIMS. However, Sanathnagar TIMS will not have a medical college attached, which reduces patient inflow.
To maintain adequate patient numbers at Sanathnagar, cases from nearby areas and long-pending waiting lists at Osmania General Hospital, Gandhi Hospital, NIMS, and other government hospitals will be redirected to TIMS, helping clear backlogs that have accumulated over three to five months.
TIMS institutions are proposed to function autonomously under the TIMS Act, similar to NIMS, with corresponding salary structures. However, permanent manpower posts have not yet been sanctioned, with the file currently pending with the Chief Minister. Recruitment will begin once approval is granted. In the interim, the Director of Medical Education will oversee the institution with the available faculty.
