Telangana did not applied to centre for new medical colleges
Hyderabad: In response to a question raised by A Revanth Reddy, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Bharati Pravin Pawar informed the Lok Sabha On Friday that the Centre hasn't received any such proposal from Telangana for the establishment of new government medical colleges under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS).
The Union Minister made a statement in Lok Sabha that the Telangana government had repeatedly requested the Centre for establishing a new medical college whereas they did not raise the issue repeatedly in the Parliament.

Telangana today reports that the Centre launched the scheme in 2014 to establish new medical colleges with preference to underserved areas and aspirational districts, where there is no existing government or private medical colleges.
In Phase- III of the scheme, The Centre had earlier asked all states and union territories to submit proposals and 157 medical colleges were approved, out of which 71 are now operational and 75 medical colleges have already been allocated. However, the Telangana government did not send any proposals under this scheme, says the Union Minister.
