Hyderabad: The Telangana government has transferred the Superintendent of Government General Hospital, Nagarkurnool, Dr T. Usha Rani, and appointed her as the new Superintendent of Gandhi Hospital, Secunderabad. 

The Health, Medical and Family Welfare Department has issued the order through Government Order (G.O.Rt.No.355) dated September 7, 2026.

According to the order, Dr T. Usha Rani has been transferred from Nagarkurnool and posted as Superintendent of Gandhi Hospital, one of Telangana's major government hospitals. The Director of Medical Education (DME), Telangana, has been directed to take necessary steps to implement the transfer and posting orders.

The government has also relieved Dr Ch Raja Kumari, Additional Director of Medical Education (Additional DME) at Gandhi Hospital, from her duties with immediate effect. She has been directed to report to the Director of Medical Education, Telangana, Hyderabad.

The Health, Medical and Family Welfare Department said it had examined the matter and decided to transfer Dr Usha Rani in accordance with the applicable government orders.

The government order was issued with the concurrence of the Finance (HRM-I) Department through its official communication dated August 25, 2026.

In a recent post on X, the Office of the Minister for Health, Telangana, said Dr T. Usha Rani's appointment was intended to further strengthen the administration and delivery of quality healthcare services at Gandhi Hospital.

The latest move comes amid administrative changes aimed at strengthening the functioning of government medical institutions and the state's public healthcare system.  

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that Telangana is set for a major expansion of its public healthcare infrastructure, with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announcing plans to add around 10,000 hospital beds across major government hospitals by December 9, 2027. Speaking at the inauguration of the Dr MCR Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) at Sanathnagar on Monday, Revanth Reddy said the government had taken up projects that were pending under the previous administration, including TIMS hospitals at Sanathnagar, LB Nagar and Alwal, along with the Warangal Super Speciality Hospital.
