NBE defers Fellowship Entrance Test, FET 2021, Details

New Delhi: Through a recent notification, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) has notified about the postponement of the Fellowship Entrance Test, FET 2021.

The Fellowship Entrance Test, FET is a qualifying-cum-ranking examination prescribed as the single entrance examination for admission to various Fellowship (FNB) courses of Natboard.

In the earlier notice wherein the NBE had released the tentative schedule of Forthcoming NBEMS Examinations, it had mentioned that the FET 2021 will be held on 20th November 2021. However, the exam date has now been postponed.

According to the recent notice uploaded on the official website of NBE, the Natboard has deferred the admission session to 11th January 2022.

The NBE notice mentioned that in continuation of earlier notice which was regarding the tentative schedule of forthcoming NBEMS Examinations and "pursuant to the deferment of NEET-SS 2021 to January 2022, the conduct of Fellowship Entrance test for 2021- 2022 admission session stands deferred to 11th January 2022."

Medical Dialogues recently reported about the revised schedule of the NEET SS 2021 exam released by the NBE with the Supreme Court proceedings being concluded on the matter of last minutes abrupt changes to exam pattern, and verdict being out on the conduction of the entrance test.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences was established in 1975 with the prime objective of improving the quality of Medical Education by elevating the level and establishing standards of post-graduate examinations in modern medicine on an all-India basis. There are more than 149 recognized Medical Colleges in the country. In addition to Postgraduate teaching institutions under MCI, there are 450 accredited institutions imparting training in various Broad and Super specialties for the award of a postgraduate qualification in Broad and super specialities. The Board at present conducts postgraduate and postdoctoral examinations in 54 disciplines approved by the Board for the award of Diplomate of National Board. The Medical Council of India has laid down standards for postgraduate examinations conducted by various medical colleges and affiliated to concerned universities and other institutions, yet the levels of proficiency and standards of evaluation vary considerably in these institutions. The setting up of a National Body to conduct post-graduate medical examinations was intended to provide a common standard and mechanism of evaluation of the minimum level of attainment of the objective for which post-graduate courses were started in medical institutions. Moreover, intra country and international comparisons are facilitated with the availability of commonly accepted evaluation mechanisms.
