New Delhi: In a relief to FNB, DNB trainees who are quarantined due to exposure to COVID 19, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) has declared that their quarantined period would not be counted as absence from duty and their training will not be extended henceforth. Besides, a full stipend will be paid to the DNB, FNB trainees.

The confirmation to these effects comes via a recent clarification issued by the NBE on the quarantine period of the DNB and FNB traniees.

The Natboard clearly stated:

It is hereby clarified that the DNB/FNB trainees who are quarantined due to exposure to COVID-19 shall be treated as on special leave.
The quarantined period will not be counted as absence from the duty and the DNB/FNB training will not be extended on this ground.
The full stipend is to be paid to the DNB/FNB trainees for the quarantined period.

Earlier, the National Board of Examinations, in a direction to its accredited hospitals and institutes in West Bengal, ordered them to pay an equal stipend to its DNB, FNB trainees as per the NBE stipend guidelines.

In accordance with NBE stipend guidelines dated 02-04-2019, all NBE accredited hospitals shall have to pay the DNB/FNB trainee a basic stipend as prescribed by NBE or basic stipend according to the state government policy (whichever is higher).

"Accordingly, all NBE accredited hospitals/institutions in West Bengal are required to pay the revised stipend in accordance with the orders issued by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal."

The revised stipend payable to the DNB trainees shall be applicable from 01-06-2020.
