Creador in Talks to Invest Rs 800 Crore in Leeford Healthcare for 10% Stake at Rs 8,500 Crore Valuation: Report
New Delhi: Kuala Lumpur-based private equity firm Creador is reportedly in advanced discussions to invest around Rs 800 crore in Ludhiana-based Leeford Healthcare by acquiring an approximately 10% stake in the pharmaceutical company. If completed, the proposed deal would value Leeford Healthcare at Rs 8,000-8,500 crore and mark the company's first-ever external equity investment since its establishment in 2006.
The proposed transaction would also represent the first dilution of promoter ownership in Leeford Healthcare. Founded by Jiwan Lal Gupta in 2006, the company has remained entirely promoter-owned for nearly two decades. According to available shareholding information, Gupta owns nearly 88% of the company, while the remaining stake is held by members of the Gupta family.
The potential investment comes a few months after Creador expanded its presence in India's healthcare sector by acquiring nearly a 7% stake in La Renon Healthcare in November 2025. The private equity firm has previously invested across healthcare, financial services, consumer businesses, and manufacturing in South and Southeast Asia, with a strategy of partnering with founder-led companies entering their next phase of growth.
Over the years, Leeford Healthcare has expanded beyond its generic medicines business into multiple healthcare segments. The company now has a portfolio of more than 2,000 products, including prescription medicines, generic formulations, nutraceuticals, personal care products, and speciality therapies.In addition to its core pharmaceutical business, the company operates Cosmacia, which focuses on personal care products, and Leeford Medi Sciences, a business dedicated to nephrology and urology.
Completion of the proposed investment would represent Leeford Healthcare's first external equity infusion since its inception and could mark a significant milestone in the company's growth journey, reports Digital Health News.
