NPPA Slaps Rs 79.97 Lakh Notice on AstraZeneca for Alleged Betaloc-50 Overcharging
NPPA has alleged that AstraZeneca Pharma India sold or marketed Betaloc-50 (Metoprolol 50 mg tablets) at a maximum retail price (MRP) higher than the ceiling price notified under the DPCO, 2013.

Bengaluru: AstraZeneca Pharma India Limited has received a demand notice from the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) for alleged overcharging under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order (DPCO), 2013. The company stated that it is currently reviewing the demand notice and will take appropriate steps in accordance with applicable law.
The company said the communication from the NPPA was received on July 27, 2026, while the disclosure to the stock exchanges was made on July 28, 2026. The notice relates to an alleged violation of the provisions of the DPCO, 2013.
