Panaji: Goa police have served a notice to a pharmaceutical company in connection with the alleged supply of questionable anti-snake venom to the state's Directorate of Health Services (DHS), intensifying the ongoing probe into the matter.
According to officials, the notice has been issued as part of the investigation following the registration of an FIR against the company for allegedly supplying anti-venom injections suspected to be spurious or not meeting prescribed standards. The drug is a critical, life-saving treatment administered to snakebite victims in emergency situations.
Investigators are examining the procurement process, distribution channels and documentation related to the supply of the anti-venom to government health facilities. Police are seeking detailed information from the company regarding the source of the product, manufacturing details, regulatory approvals and quality control measures adopted prior to distribution.
